CAMP OLUWALU ADVENTURE 2014
Our 2014 adventure at Camp Oluwaly was amazing!
These are the Oluwalu cabins, they are located 7 miles from Lahaina town and its our base camp for the seven days lenght of our adventure.
This program is perfect for the most adventurous and energetic type of person.
Everyday for seven days we explored our County waters and secluded beaches using a small vessel.
Maui, Lanai and Molokai are full of secret beaches and hide away places only accessible by smaller vessels…
Lunch time is when we take the time to visit our neighbor islands… and explore a little.
Some of the visited beaches are so secluded your footprints will be the first ones to be seen for days. Well… they will be second to the birds.
This program also emphasizes in sharing our culture and traditions…
We believe that our culture has much to offer… the Aloha spirit is universal and it lives inside all of us.
Of course the whales were just about everywhere!
This fellow here was with us for almost and hour…
He wasn’t alone, he had some friends… about five of them!
These are two who were flirting with each other.
When we look for singers we find them by dropping the hydrophone down. Then we listen how close or how far the singing whales are…
On this occasion we were really close to a singing male…
That’s me explaining why females slap their pectorals.
I can breach too…
We had a blue water swim and felt the sounds of the song pounding inside our bodies.
This is Alexandra… she learned how to snorkel for the first time on that day.
Somewhere in Maui Nui…
This location is usually inaccessible due to strong currents and large waves, but on that day we were blessed with incredible conditions.
The whales gave us a show!
Mom and calfs…
Breaches all around us… one day we counted 155 breaches in a period of two hours!
Please watch this video from our FB page, Ocean Defender Hawaii. The video is of a baby whale breaching next to us… https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?v=10152280869079653&set=vb.328919879652&type=3&theater

Please check out our album for this adventure… we will be adding more photos. We hope that you can join us on this adventure.
Aloha.
